Regulatory Report

20100 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, 48236 Michigan, United States

1. Employee was informed that their client had tested positive for Covid-19, and was told by a nurse that anyone who has close contact with the client should quarantine for 14 days, and take a Covid-19 test. The employee notified their employer of the client's positive Covid-19 status, was told that a 'nurse' can't tell them to quarantine for 14 days." The employer is allowing people who have Covid-19 exposure decide if they want to get tested, work, quarantine, or continue to work. The employee asked what was the job protocol, pertaining to employees being exposed to clients who have tested positive for Covid-19? Employee was informed that the employer would contact any and all employees who had contact with the client in the last 24 hours. Employee was told it was their decision whether they wanted to get tested and/or quarantine. Employee asked if that was the CDC Guidelines but no clear answer was ever given. It appears the employer wasn't following CDC guidelines, because they had no set protocol or policy for employees to follow after being exposed. A policy was later put in place concerning working with Covid-19 clients. However the employee has not received it. 2. A short time after, the employee's client began to cough. The employee called their employer to inform them of the non-existence of PPE that would protect their eyes from airborne droplets. Employee was informed that they were working on getting them the PPE they needed to safely do their job. The PPE arrived when their relief staff came to start their 3pm shift. The client, has 24-hour care, 7 days a week, consisting of 3 shifts daily. The employee is not sure how many of my coworkers have been exposed. The employee is concerned because they spent 8 hours with the client and did not have the proper PPE.
