As of 6:30 p.m., close to 3,000 Emporia customers lost electricity, the Evergy website reported. A separate outage led to about 240 customers in the dark in the Allen-Americus area, where several power poles broke in the wind.

The outage was reported shortly before 1 am affecting 700 customers from the intersection of Kansas Highway 99 and Road 155 to 11th and Commercial. Power was fully restored shortly after 2:30 am.

About 1,700 Emporians are without power on the east side of town Saturday. According to Evergy's Outage map, 1,717 customers currently out of service. Outages have been reported from Commercial Street and everything east.
Evergy said power should be restored by mid-afternoon.
