Safety Report: RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) or The Flu (Influenza Virus), Seattle, WA, USA

Sunday 12/03/23 - Day 1: Started with sore throat & head cold (severe headache and head felt like it was 80 pounds - throbbing when bending down) -Took COVID test and it was negative Day 2: Sore throat and headache got worse + low grade fever and horrible body aches (like every muscle in my body hurt) Day 3: Sore throat + headache + very dry congestion + low grade fever + body aches -New symptom: lost voice and partial hearing as head cold traveled to my ears and throat -Took another COVID test - still negative Day 4: Headache lessened as cold traveled to chest after taking Robitussin DM, body aches also lessened, mucous finally started moving from nasal passages -Developed persistent cough due to post-nasal drip + coughing up lots of phlegm Day 5: Most other symptoms went away. Only experiencing severe sore throat and cough, lots of phlegm in the chest so it was hard to breath + congestion in the nose still and no voice Day 6: Severe cough + phlegm in chest + pain in chest and back from coughing so much. -Finally made appointment with PCP due to the chest pain and after seeing an article that there is an outbreak of RSV in Seattle. Next availability with Polyclinic was not for 4 days (Tuesday 12/12/23) Day 7-9: Symptoms continued throughout the weekend with very persistent cough, chest pain, phlegm in chest, hard to breath. Tuesday 12/12/23 - Day 10: Still persistent cough, voice somewhat returning after taking tea with Mullein the day before. -Doctor said there was no point in testing for either RSV or the Flu since the virus was already gone with it being day 10. She said symptoms all sound like the Flu (influenza virus) and prescribed steroid inhaler which should help with the cough. I personally think this was RSV and had I been able to get an appointment same day last week then we could have tested for confirmation. | Symptoms: Fever, Headache, Body Ache, Chest Pain, Muscle Pain, Cough, Sore Throat
