Evergy says a downed power line was responsible for Thursday’s outage that covered much of downtown Emporia and a significant part of south-central Emporia. Initially, over 70 outages were reported from around Sixth and Commercial south past the David Traylor Zoo when the situation developed around 9 am. Those outages were consolidated into one outage affecting over 750 Evergy customers, including the Lyon County Courthouse, although power was restored quickly enough so the County Commission meeting and court hearings could take place.Outage link: outagemap.evergy.com/
