Regulatory Report
3600 30th Street, Des Moines, 50310 Iowa, United States
08/11/21 Located primarily in the ICU, but does cover other parts of the campus. The VA is not providing N95 respirators or fit testing to nurses caring for COVID-19 patients. PAPRs are available however, there seems to be a limited supply and they are sometimes not available when responding to emergencies. The other day, there was only one PAPR in the ICU. PAPRs are also difficult to use when performing CPR on a patient or responding to emergencies in the parking lot or across campus. PAPRs are heavy/bulky and hurt the head and neck when wearing for a 12 hour shift. Management denied providing N95s stating that they are no longer available for use at the facility. N95's should at least be available for employees engaged in emergency response duties or where urgent care of patients is needed.Alleged Hazards: 1, Employees Exposed: 30
