We are in close contact with individuals that live in the home showering, toileting, changing soiled briefs ,etc. our consumers don't know how to cover coughs or sneezes and aren't able to communicate. Employees share phones to clock in/out , desk, we pass meds so we are all touching med blister packs , chart in the same books , share same bathroom, etc. We are also required to do shopping every week for groceries and supplies and as you know stores are out of lots of items so we are having to go to several stores looking for disinfecting wipes, sprays, and other necessities and these stores here are always busy with lots of people so we need hand sanitizer to carry with us when we go out into community . We have reached out to our supervisor telling him we need things like hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes/spray , etc. but have not received anything. We all wash our hands but when we're out shopping store to store we need hand sanitizer also need disinfecting spray /wipes to clean items we bring back from store. We also have people that come into the home after they have been in several of our other homes that we have through out the city. Even if these people are taking their temps they could still be sick and not know it then everyone in the home would be sick. The stores around here have no disinfectant spray, wipes or hand sanitizer. With all the staff in the home using same phone , books for charting, bathroom , etc.shouldnt the employer be providing us with hand sanitizer and at least disinfectant spray?
