Safety Report: Covid-19 OSHA Complaint, MULTICARE HEALTH SYSTEMS, 1901 S Union Ave, TACOMA, WA, 98405, USA

3 years ago business

Regulatory Report

1901 South Union Avenue, Tacoma, 98405 Washington, United States

MultiCare is not following mask requirements per the L&I updated from 6/14/21. They allow unvaccinated employees to unmask in non-patient-care areas and do not require proof or attestation of vaccination. (They ask for a daily "symptom attestation," but no vaccine attestation.) You can see in the attached email that masking is only "recommended" for unvaccinated staff. This was a memo sent out to all Puget Sound-area employees. MultiCare's stated position is that vaccines are recommended for staff, but many in management are openly contemptuous toward vaccines and masking, tell staff that masks are ineffective and vaccines are experimental, and erroneously believe they cannot ask vaccine status due to HIPAA. There is a culture of mockery toward patients or staff who bring up concerns about masking. I have brought up concerns with multiple people in management, but nothing has changed, and I am fearful of retaliation if I continue to bring up my concerns.
