Safety Report: Covid-19 OSHA Complaint, Joann Fabrics and Crafts, 14367 Hall Rd, SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI, 48315, USA

Regulatory Report

14367 Hall Road, Shelby Township, 48315 Michigan, United States

1. A customer inside the store had an episode of diarrhea. This started in the aisle halfway inside the store and was tracked all the way to the bathroom at the back of the store. Other customers and employees were unknowingly walking through and pushing their carts through bio-hazardous waste. The manager told the employees to clean using an old mop, water, and simple green, which is not sufficient enough to clean up human waste that may contain blood. The employees who were told to clean up the waste were not provided any PPE or safety gear to handle the issue. The mop was also not likely disposed of after this use and may be contaminated. Customers and employees continued to track the waste even after it was mopped, as it was not properly cleaned, throughout the store. The store is currently open and people are inside, tracking the human waste throughout the stores, outside, and to their vehicles, residencies, and other locations. This is a concern as diarrhea is a symptom of COVID and can be exposing many to this hazard.
