Safety Report: Covid-19 OSHA Complaint, Hi-Lex America Inc, 5200 Wayne Rd, BATTLE CREEK, MI, 49037, USA

3 years ago business

Regulatory Report

5200 Wayne Road, Battle Creek, 49037 Michigan, United States

One of the production associates received a positive covid-19 test result while at work on Friday 3/5/21. She was sent home to quarantine, however, per the plant manager's orders and against the advice of the assistant HR manager, none of the exposed associates have been quarantined nor ordered to receive testing and are being expected to report to work as normal. The number of affected employees is roughly 20 and includes multiple production associates, a team leader, a supervisor, 2 engineers, the materials manager, and the plant manager. The affected employees are being required to work only due to productivity concerns. The working conditions on the affected assembly lines are generally cramped and most of the machine operators are never 6 feet apart from one another. The affected assembly lines are designated A239, A382, and A383. It is understood that Michigan's covid-19 guidelines for manufacturing, requiring suspected cases to report to work in conditions where social distancing on the job is impossible is a health violation.
