Safety Report: Covid-19 OSHA Complaint, BAPTIST HEALTH MADISONVILLE, 900 HOSPITAL DRIVE, MADISONVILLE, KY, 42431, USA

Regulatory Report

900 Hospital Drive, Madisonville, 42431 Kentucky, United States

Personal protective equipment not readily available in the emergency department. Disposable PPE is locked away from nursing staff. They are being told they may only have 1 disposable mask or gown which is to be worn during the shift caring for multiple patients. Nurses must ask special permission for access to PPE. In an emergency care setting, this means the PPE is not readily available. It is not possible to provide quality patient care if there is a delay in obtaining PPE or if PPE is denied. This is not safe for the nursing staff who may become exposed to infectious disease. The reuse of disposable PPE also presents a patient safety risk. Nursing staff are not adequately protected when PPE is not readily available.
