Regulatory Report
1979 Latimer Drive, Muskegon, 49442 Michigan, United States
Earlier this summer, OSHA visited this company for not taking enough precautions to protect it's employees from the spread of CovID-19. They were doing the bare minimum. With the exception of masks being required in the lab area, and health assessments being filled out daily, nothing has changed much. The bare minimum is still being done, which is not good enough. On Thursday, October 8, 2020, two confirmed cases of Covid-19 were reported to the company, and on Friday, October 9th, a third case was confirmed. The first two cases were both in the lab area, the third is in the office area. The lab department is in quarantine, except for the lab manager. It should be noted that these three cases were all wearing masks and still were confirmed positive for Covid. It shows that the bare minimum is not enough, especially considering that it has been found that the virus can live on non-porous surfaces for up to 28 days. It was stated that the lab area would be deep-cleaned, however, an outside company will not be coming in to do that. Instead, another person from the front office, is supposed to be going in early to wipe down surfaces with alcohol wipes. That does not constitute deep cleaning. Then today, Monday, October 12th, a fourth case was confirmed; a person in the production area. Two other people were sent home because of exposure to this fourth case, and two others have already been tested and are awaiting results after being exposed to the first case. The fourth case has had close contact with at least two others in the office, including the employee, who is supposed to be wiping down the lab. How do we know they are not infected? It makes absolutely no sense to have someone "clean" the lab if there is a possibility that person is infected. Also, if people are going to be tested, they need to stay home until test results are in. The longer this business is open, the higher the risk of further spreading CovID-19. Again, the President of the company, is not in the habit of wearing a mask or self-isolating whenever he travels around the country, which he does often.Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2020-10-13
