Employees required to terminally clean COVID-19 case rooms in the Psychiatric Ward, A and B, on floors 3 and 4, are not protected by effective procedures, engineering controls, and personal protective equipment in the following ways: Employees were required to enter rooms with brown signs (contact precautions only) and later discovered that the patient inside was a COVID-19 case, and that the room should have been labeled with a pink sign (COVID-19 precautions). T8 CCR 5199(e)(1) Employees were required to enter COVID-19 case rooms which were not equipped with any air filtration systems. Employees were instructed to wait 6 hours after the patient left prior to entering these rooms, but no information was provided showing that this amount of time would result is a sufficiently low concentration of airborne particles. T8 CCR 5199(e)(2) Employees were required to enter COVID-19 case rooms using only yellow gowns, when the internal policy is to use full body Tyvek suits when cleaning these rooms.
