1. The employer did not provide a new N95 mask for each encounter with a new patient with COVID-19. The employer requires nurses in Telemetry to utilize the same N95 mask for four hours and sometimes for an entire shift for encounters with multiple patients. After multiple donning and doffings, N95s do not seal appropriately. N95 masks are not readily available when nurses need to replace a damaged or contaminated N95, nurses must call the assistant nurse manager to unlock the supply. T8 CCR Section 5199(e)(2) and (g) 2. The employer did not ensure that source control measures were readily available in Telemetry. Nurses must call the assistant nurse manager to unlock the supply of surgical masks when a new one is needed because it has become soiled or contaminated.
