A car knocked down a utility pole Thursday afternoon, resulting in the loss of electricity for nearly 1,600 homes and businesses. The crash occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. Dec. 28 on Old County Road in Thomaston between West Meadow Road and Route 1. The power outages stretched from Rockport, Rockland, and Thomaston.
